Anti-terrorism exercise “COBRA 2023 (Bulgaria)”

The field exercise in Bulgaria was planned as two phases of the field exercise. In the first one (during the day on 1st March 2023) was received and elaborated the alert from 112 about the hostage situation at Sofia airport Terminal 1. Dirty bomb alert was issued shortly after. SOBT, Sofia Municipality, Sofia Airport and Border Police restricted the perimeter until the late afternoon. The second phase was the real attack phase where all additional authorities in such a situation would be involved. All authorities working on the field tested and applied measures applicable in such a complicated situation. This second phase concluded at 23.30h in the evening of 1st March 2023 with hostages release and dirty bomb deactivation.
